In recent photo class adventures…self portraits. I started out not really looking forward to this project, but ended up having a ton of fun with it. I think I probably spent more time coordinating shirts, coffee mugs and other props than I did actually shooting or editing. It’s still strange to be in a photography class again, but having deadlines and stipulations keeps me on my toes for sure.
Without further ado, several gratuitous photos of myself!
Kinzi was sweet (crazy?) enough to spend some time assisting me with portraits a few weeks ago before she ran off to college. She got paid in plates, and I got to test out some of the different colors, so I like to think it was a win-win.
Caleb and I first met in middle school and in the 10+ years since then I've watched him go from a pre-teen poetry writer, to an amazing teacher, to earning not one, but two degrees. He recently graduated with a Masters in Counseling, and still has to take on a licensure exam and THREE THOUSAND HOURS of practice. If that doesn't sound like enough things to do, he did it all while teaching high school, and still found some time to buy a house.
I'm so glad we were able to sneak in a few moments to take some pictures in the new house, and have some lunch. Even though adult life is hard, and we definitely don't see each other as much as we did when we were 13, I'm still insanely proud. Can't wait to take another set of pictures when you decide you need a PhD! ;)
Way back in 2013, I traipsed around in the snow with this girl to take her (high school) senior pictures. Now she's not only graduated again, but has already started law school.
Since those first pictures, she's become even more phenomenal as a human, and still insists on making me wander around with her in frigid temperatures for the sake of pictures. Keep it up, sister.
It's always a good day when someone asks me to shoot portraits. It's even better getting asked to take 8 portraits.
It starts to get a little more interesting when the headshots need to be done in one day...and the weather is freezing...and the building you work in has terrible lighting and a bad paint job...and all 8 people have very different schedules...
But I'm nothing if not up for a challenge.
Haley balances not only being a fashionable, sassy blogger, but life with Pulmonary Hypertension as well. She's an amazing advocate for the invisible disease and a strong, surviving woman.
I love keeping up with her blog, and hope that we find a way to get more shoots in despite living so far away from each other. You can read more about our day in her Boot Season post!

This girl is not old enough to be a high school senior. At least, it doesn't feel like she should be. I first met Miranda as a Camp Aide a couple years ago. Since then, she's moved up to a co-worker and chosen a college to attend in the fall. Makes me feel pretty old.
After I got over feeling so old, we decided to meet up for a few senior pictures. We both froze out in the snow, but I think it was worth it.
Congrats on your impending graduation, Rambo. I'm so proud of you!
