life

recap: August 2015

August was the month of road trips, and I couldn't be happier about it. Both my car and my Hasselblad got quite the work out this month. I got to see lots of Texas, a little bit of wilderness, and shoot a whole lot of film (despite the fact that I spent a week being the sickest I have ever been in my entire life).

recap: July 2015

This may have been the quickest July I've ever experienced.

But thinking back on it, I still found some time to make and eat a million baked goods.

Plus, we made time for some excellent date nights. And I even had time to take quite a few spontaneous road trips.

in the kitchen: summer sweets

Happy Friday from this cake, and this ice cream. I've gotten into the habit of making both a no churn, and a churn ice cream on the same day. Double the ice cream, half the waiting for the bowl to refreeze.

Additional celebratory Friday vibes from the multitude of sprinkles in the cabinet, and homemade whipped cream. My only question is, can you buy sprinkles by the pound? That's something I may need to start doing.

lately: Dusk & Summer

I knew when I was shooting these that they wouldn't come out super well, but I went for it anyway. I just can't resist the fading light at sunset during the summer.

(here's the full album, just in case the post title gets you feeling nostalgic)

quality time: Hutch & the pool

Despite the unusually cool summer, I've still tried to make it to the pool as much as possible. One of those times, I convinced Hutch to join me for a swim after dinner. We didn't last long since the water was so cold, but it was still nice for a little while.

at home: His & Hers

Every morning, when I stand in the kitchen with Hutch while we take our various medicines and vitamins, I laugh about his beige pills compared to my pink ones.

Part of the fun of living together has come from watching these same, but different things appear.

quality time: Nicole & the pool

This summer has officially felt like the least summer-y summer ever. Partially because of my work schedule, but also because it feels like it has rained at least once a week for the past month. I'm not sure temperatures have even gotten near 100 yet. Nicole braved the cloudy skies and thunder in the distance to spend a little bit of time with me at the pool recently so we could at least pretend it feels a little more like summer than it does.

recap: June 2015

This year, June marked not only my first summer staying in Austin and working a full-time job, but also moving in with a rad roommate.

We managed to combine our households into one tiny apartment, drive across the state together for the first time, and fit in time for me to start teaching him the joys of shooting film.

I also ate a lot of breakfast foods (as usual), and snuggled with my cat a whole lot, but only got to get in a pool twice.

Here's hoping July is just as eventful, laughter-filled and just slightly less rainy.
