adventure

excursion: Blue Hole

I'm fairly certain that had I grown up closer to a natural body of water, I would have been in it at every opportunity. Blue Hole park is a neat little section of the San Gabriel River in Georgetown, which is a super quick day trip from Austin. The weather and the water were both the perfect temperature for spending a day away from real life.

quality time: San Antonio Brunch

A daytrip to San Antonio + brunch with two of my favorite people = a more than stellar way to spend a Sunday.

I snagged my newly fixed 35mm, and somehow convinced Shelby to take some time out of her day to meet up for brunch at Tucker's. After the most amazing chicken and waffles, we walked around and saw some sights in her neighborhood, then of course ended the day being tourists at the Alamo.

excursion: Wild Basin

Way back when I moved across the state, Wild Basin was my first experience with Austin nature. It's a beautiful preserve and St. Edward's is lucky to have the area as a satellite part of the campus. I hadn't spent much time out there since I graduated, so I asked two of my best adventuring partners to spend some time walking around the trails with me. Since it is technically still summer, what started out as a nice morning quickly evolved into a disgustingly hot afternoon.

tourist: 207

"Just trust me," is a very hard phrase for me to handle. In this case, it meant choosing a random road we had never taken when we left Amarillo, and hoping it would get us back to Austin. It was a little more scenic than usual, but it definitely got us there.

where you are: Leaving Holiday

Considering that my mom still lives in the house I grew up in, I can't imagine moving out of a house I was so used to not once, but twice. Hutch not only lived in Holiday when he was a kid, but again once he started college.  It was a little sad helping him move out the second time, but at least the light was just as pretty as always.

tourist: San Antonio Slides

The first time I visited San Antonio as a human old enough to remember the experience, I fell in love with the city a little bit. I spent the weekend wandering around the Riverwalk and the Alamo, and just enjoyed being somewhere new for a while.

I've been back a handful of times since then, (and hope to make the trip again soon) but haven't managed to take the time to shoot while I've been there. Too busy enjoying Shelby's company, as it turns out.

where you are: Green Apartment

I've moved 6 times in 6 years. In all of those different apartments, this one was simultaneously the absolute worst (no exaggeration), but possibly the one I liked the best (on the inside anyway). It had a LOT of faults, and was a little big for just the cat and myself, but we rattled around in it together and made it work. Some great pictures came out of the experience, too.
